Global economic and cultural development would hardly have been conceivable without artificial light. On the one hand, artificial light sources are a basic requirement of modern social life, on the other hand, there are numerous negative effects associated with the permanent and excessive use of artificial light. Alfredo Jaar has often used light as his preferred medium, in order to raise social questions through his art. Two of his works are part of the exhibition Macht! Licht! (Power! Light!), that opened this past weekend: Kultur = Kapital and (Kindness) of (Strangers).
