Richard Deacon, Recent Ceramics

In parallel with his metal sculptures in the gallery’s current exhibition Fourfold Way, we are showing some of Richard Deacon’s work in ceramics that he has created in recent years. Deacon’s fascination with the colorful shaping of surfaces has led him in recent years to think sculpture essentially from the surface. As a result, his sculptures become more like something painterly, images that hang on the wall, lie flat on the floor, or rest upright on pillars or stand on small wall pedestals like family photos.
