A semicircular, serrated plywood frame made of arches horizontally along the wall and offers metallic glazed ceramic tiles the base to carry a painterly surface animated by light reflections. Despite the actual weight of burnt clay, this surface seems to unfold with sheer lightness and self-evidence above the wooden structure. Like a stone in nature, which one lifts to reveal a secret hidden underneath, the lateral view with its insight into the construction principle of the wall work is not a disenchantment, but its opposite: Each individual tile is carried only by 2 small magnets. Thus a tiny gap between functional framework and fragile surface; between magnetic attraction and gravitational force becomes a meaningful space in between. The sculpture is conceived as a section and potentially continues endlessly in space on both sides. Chip is part of a larger whole.
